From Zero to
Mom's House

Can we get 1,000,000 paper balls onto my neighbor's roof by Mother's Day?

My mom has spent her life cleaning other people's homes. I want to hand her the keys to one of her own on Mother's Day. How big a house she gets is up to you.

Sooner would be amazing. If it takes longer, we keep going.

Why I'm doing this

For as long as I can remember, my mom has cleaned houses for a living. Other people's kitchens. Other people's floors. Other people's homes.

We never had a home of our own.

Her life has been the same loop for years: wake up, go to work, come home, sleep, pay the bills. Then do it all again.

I help her however I can, and I'm working hard to build something online to change that. But a house is too big for one person. So today I'm opening my heart and asking you to help too.

I know this dream isn't only mine. So many of us grew up dreaming of buying our mom a house someday. And I see it online every day: strangers showing up for strangers. There are still good people out there. So why not turn a silly challenge into a dream come true?

Here's how it works: every dollar becomes a real paper ball, numbered and thrown onto my neighbor's roof, on video. You watch the roof fill up. The more balls up there, the bigger the home she gets.

And if we pull this off, maybe someone else out there starts their own challenge for their own dream, and finds the same good people we did.

She spent her life taking care of other people's homes. Let's give her one of her own.

I want to help
  1. 1

    You give any amount

Every dollar is one ball: $10 is ten balls, $10,000 is ten thousand.

  2. 2

    I make your ball

Half a sheet of paper, crumpled, taped with its number and the date.

  3. 3

    Up on the roof

On video, every day. You see the roof and your number on the ball, never a face or a name.

The roof today

Same roof, same angle, every day. Watch it fill up.

Day one photo coming soon. For now it's an empty roof.

50 big balls = 1,000,000

The roof holds about 20,000 balls at a time. When it's full, I film it, clear it from the window and bag the balls. Then one big painted ball goes up there and stays for good.

Big balls up there so far: 0 of 50.

A new color every 100,000. The last one is gold.

The cleared balls go into clear bags labeled with their roof number ("Roof #3 · 20,000"), kept in a room at home. Every full roof gets a mark on that room's wall.

    Every dollar, in the open

I promised to be 100% transparent with you, so here it is: every dollar, live, the moment it lands.

The plan: a home she can keep

The first dream is a home of her own. If this gets big enough, the dream gets bigger: retire her from the heavy cleaning work, so she can rest, take care of her health and finally live a little.

But a house she can't afford to keep won't change her life. Property taxes, insurance, repairs and bills come every month. So the plan is simple: most of the money goes to the house, and a real piece is set aside so she can keep it. The vote decides how big that piece is.

I have a rough idea of how to set that up, not every answer. That's where you come in.

    1. 1

      You vote on the split

All on the house, or a home plus money set aside for her. The vote is open right now.

    2. 2

You weigh in on every big step

Which house, where the money for her goes, what happens on Mother's Day. I bring the options here before I do anything.

    3. 3

      You see every dollar

Every dollar in and out, live on this page. When we buy, I show you what we bought, without her face or the address.

    Help me decide

    You help decide

It's our challenge, so you get a say. Help me take care of this money: all of it on the house, or a home plus something that keeps her safe for years? Vote, and tell me why. And if Mother's Day comes before the million, we decide the next step together, right here.

    Build Mom's house

Warm up before the real roof. Move the hand and hit Throw while the meter is in the yellow zone. Every ball that lands on the roof adds 1 piece to Mom's house, and 80 pieces finish it. Just like the real one, 20 balls fill the roof: they go into a clear bag and a big painted ball stays up for good.

    Ready to throw?

Drag (or use ← →) to move the hand. Tap the roof, press Throw or hit space when the meter is in the yellow zone.

    Wall of throwers

Everyone who throws a ball is part of this, every step of the way, until she gets her keys. Leave a message when you donate. I read every one, put it up here and answer.

The first thrower's message goes right here.

    The rules

    The one rule

Every $1 you give = 1 paper ball on my neighbor's roof. Give any amount: $20 is 20 balls, $10,000 is 10,000 balls. The count uses what you gave; processing fees are shown separately in the numbers above, never hidden.

    Is 1,000,000 the goal?

It's the challenge, not the goal. A million is just a number. Fewer or more, the goal stays the same: a home for my mom that she can actually keep. How far we go is up to you.

    Why Mother's Day?

Because that's the day I'd love to hand my mom her keys: Sunday, May 9, 2027. For that, the money has to come in before then. If we get there sooner, even better. The countdown is my goal, not a deadline for you.

What if we don't make it by Mother's Day?

Nothing is lost. On May 9 I'll show exactly where we are, and we decide together, right here on the site: keep going for the million, or use what we have as a down payment on her home. Every dollar still goes to my mom's home either way.

What happens when the roof is full?

About every 20,000 balls the roof is full. I film it, clear it and bag the balls with their roof number, and a big painted ball goes up for good. Every ball still counts, and the counter never goes down.

    Is the roof safe?

Nobody walks on it. I throw and clear everything from the window. A full roof of paper balls weighs about 50 kg spread over the whole roof, and before heavy rain I pull the balls in and put them back once they're dry.

    Where does the money go?

Only to a home for my mom. Most of it goes to the house, and a real piece is set aside so she can keep it; how big that piece is, we decide in the vote. If there isn't enough for a house, it goes to a down payment or land to build on, also decided with you. Whatever we buy, I'll show it here, without her face or the address.

    Why are you anonymous?

To protect my mom's privacy. What I give you instead is proof: numbered, dated balls, a photo of the same roof every day, and every dollar logged on this page.

    Is this a charity?

No. It's a personal fundraiser for my family. Donations are gifts and are not tax-deductible.

Is there a coin or token?

No. There is no investment and no return. If someone offers you a "Mom's House" token, it isn't me.

    Do you track me?
